-
- Signs to look for:
-
- Severe, crushing, constant central chest pain that lasts for several
- minutes
-
- A pain or tightness in the chest that moves either to the arm, neck,
- jaw, shoulder, mid-back or stomach
-
- Profuse sweating and extreme weakness
-
- The victim is anxious and afraid
-
- Extreme shortness of breath
-
- Nausea and vomiting
-
- The skin is pale, and lips and fingernails may be blue
-
-
- Immediate Treatment:
-
- 1. Check and maintain an open airway, and if necessary, restore breathing
- and circulation.
-
- 2. If the victim is conscious, gently place him in a comfortable sitting
- position. Lying down flat makes breathing more difficult.
-
- 3. Loosen tight clothing, and keep the victim comfortably warm.
-
- 4. Calm and reassure the victim.
-
- 5. Call Emergency Medical Services.
